With winter and the cold it brings I would like to take a moment to go over 3 helpful tips to assure you garage door is a reliable one.
1.) Lubrication
In the cold hinges, rollers, and electric operators may become stiff and sometimes even frozen. WD-40 or a pure silicone spray applied on the tracks, rollers, and hinges can keep your door running that much smoother and causing less stress to the electric operator.
2.) Frozen door
Clearing your garage floor of snow and ice on a daily basis will help prevent your door from freezing shut. A lot of people don’t realize this but the heat your car generates will melt the snow or ice in your garage and as the heat dissipates the water will freeze causing you door to become a “frozen door”.
3.) Electric Operator
In the cold the overhead garage door will sometimes bind and the electrical operator will stop due to the resistance. Make sure that the garage door is fully open before backing out or pulling in to prevent damage to your car and door. Once you have safely backed out or pulled in make sure the garage door is completely shut before leaving your garage to assure security.
